The Pairing of Gap & Pantone
January 9th, 2009 by Nubby
The Gap’s New York City concept store on 5th Avenue is adding a pop up shop of merchandise including t-shirts in an array of Pantone shades. Additionally, Pantone office supplies, books and accessories will also be available. Hurry up though because the shop will only be open through February 18th!

It would be cool if they had the pantone chip printed somewhere on the tshirt itself. The Gap saw a 14% drop in sales in the last quarter of 2008, with the lack of a strong design team and the economy, it will be interesting to see if the Gap can pull through this year. Abercrombie and Fitch dropped a whopping 24% in the last quarter, only worse was Nordstrom’s with 27%. Overpriced goods are a thing of the past, long lasting and priced right goods are what we will be spending on, and this will continue past the recession; we are learning new lessons and they are hard won.
Gap needs more than a Pantone chip to get past the next quarter.
